This Zero Tolerance Policy aligns with the code of ethics and standards set by the Alberta regulatory body for massage therapists, ensuring a professional and therapeutic environment at all times. We maintain strict boundaries to protect both clients and registered massage therapists (RMTs) and uphold a secure space for wellness.

Policy on Sexual Misconduct: Massage therapy is a therapeutic practice with no connection to sexual services. Sexual misconduct, including inappropriate remarks, comments, advances, or gestures, is strictly prohibited. Any indication of inappropriate behavior will result in the immediate termination of the session, and no refunds will be provided. Future appointments may be restricted or denied altogether.

Respect for Professional Boundaries: We expect all clients to respect the professional boundaries that are crucial to a therapeutic relationship. Any behavior that compromises this relationship, including inappropriate or immoral conduct, is unacceptable. Intimidating or harassing language or actions undermine the RMT’s ability to deliver unbiased and effective treatment.

Zero Tolerance for Violence and Substance Abuse: No sessions will be conducted if a client is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if they exhibit behavior that endangers themselves, the RMT, or others within the clinic. Threatening or intimidating behavior, verbal harassment, and any physical aggression are grounds for immediate termination of the session and removal from the premises.

Reporting and Consequences: For the safety of all, if inappropriate behavior continues or escalates, local authorities may be contacted, and an incident report will be filed with the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA). This ensures a documented record of the incident and serves as a safeguard for all RMTs.
